Using OPIP as a donation hub to improve financial viability
Its no secret that over the last 20 years revenue streams to newspapers have dwindled, causing reductions in staff, local coverage, and lowering readership trust. Oregon Public Information Partnership, re-birthed from Oregon Public Affairs Network, is using is 501(c)3 status to assist Oregon family-owned independent newspapers is developing an additional channel of revenue through donations. Additionally, we seek to assist partners in areas of first amendment struggles as well as the personal and professional growth of management and news staff.
OPIP can assist partner newspapers with Freedom of Information issues without breaking the bank.
Helping partner newspapers improve readership trust is a key to improving overall newspaper health.
