OPIP Vision

Oregon independent newspapers continue to serve their communities in providing critical news while becoming financially stable.

OPIP Mission

• We help independent newspapers serve their communities with civic journalism, including the opportunity for grants funded through OPIP for continuation of civic journalism services that are essential to the well-being of those communities.
• We act as a conduit between partner organizations to develop network coverage of local news events, e.g., coverage of a local sporting event and the sharing of stories and photographs.
• We also work with and through other Oregon media organizations (such as Oregon Newspaper Publisher Association (ONPA)) to develop relationships with members of the Oregon State Legislature in support of local journalism sustainability legislation.
